  • Audit work consists of 90 % of workload and each audit usually last from two to four weeks – clients range from Motor dealerships, hospitality sector, to the IT sector with turnovers from 20 to 100 million
  • Responsible for planning an audit including understanding client, their business environment, and business risks
  • Conducts field work with a team of two or three which includes applying audit testing procedures on Balance sheet and Profit and Loss sections
  • Reports recommendations for improvements to the client’s system if necessary
  • Reviews Prepayments, Accruals, Fixed Asset additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations
  • Prepares Balance Sheet control account reconciliations
  • Performs Sales and Purchases testing to identify any under or over statements
  • Ensures correct cut-off procedures have been applied
  • Analyses and identifies reasons for P&L variances across various income and expense categories
  • Reviews meeting notes to understand the strategic direction client chooses to set and follow
  • Works from client premises and liaises with clients as and when required
  • Delegates tasks to Assistants and reviews their work
  • Completes the audit file and passes to the Senior Manager for review
  • Ensures audit adjustments are posted on accounts and follow FRS102 requirements


  • Produces draft set of accounts and draft Corporation Tax computations which are reviewed by Senior Managers
  • Prepares statutory accounts from Trial Balance provided by client on CCH
  • Prepares Balance Sheet account reconciliations
  • Reconciles Prepayments, Accruals, and Fixed Assets, posting relevant journals
  • Maintains Fixed Assets Register and depreciation calculations
  • Agrees Inter-company accounts
  • Reviews expenses to ensure they are tax allowable and are not capital in nature
  • Prepares Corporation Tax computations on Alpha Tax
