19th December 2017
On Wednesday 13th December, Recruitment Solutions along with a group of local businesses took time to meet with and appraise the hard work of girls from four schools in the borough of Rochdale – Matthew Moss, Wardle, Falinge and Kingsway.
The event was part of a programme organised by the charity Reclaim – a project for 12-13 year old girls who live in or go to schools in Rochdale which aims to grow their interpersonal skills and confidence.
This part of the programme centred on five groups having to present a business idea to a “Dragons’ Den” audience – the idea being – what could make free fun for working class people in Rochdale? The prize a possible £1000 from Groundwork.
I was blown away by the quality of presentation, confidence and creativity of all the groups. They each, to varying levels, wanted to embrace cultural differences, offer leisure and educational activities for children and adults and wanted to keep it free to all takers.

They had ideas on how to raise funds and how to get everyone involved, with the hope that the Council will take note of their ideas in 2018.
The audience also included a representative from Groundwork, Carol Hopkins from the Rochdale Development Agency, and Rod Kippen from Reclaim.
